This is a great tune. We all watched the video performances by the band on Midnight Special. Listening to the lyrics that are very much dark and gloomy always seemed disconnected with the happy, snappy bouncy beat. We just like the tune and John and Gary trade some really nice ’70s era harmony lead work.
We love this song! ‘If her daddy’s rich take her out for a meal, if her daddy’s poor just do what you feel’. Difficult to say if this would fly these days, but what a great song, jug band style, without a proper drum set.
