Jerry Corbetta put this one together out of the remnants of the first band called
“Chocolate Hair”. Yes, that. The original track was about 7 minutes long with fantastic
solos on organ and electic guitar, and after being chopped down to the regular 3
minute format began to climb the charts and was a raving ‘One Hit Wonder’, so we put
it in our set. It peaked at #3. Our version is somewhere between 3 and 7 minutes
depending on who gets inspired that night.
Sugarloaf was not a “One hit wonder” band. “Don’t call us” received much radio play in its day…
yeah, we know. in the mission statement it says clearly that we’re making concerted effort to ‘include’ songs of
‘sorta’ value. here’s one of our litmus tests: get 5 strangers around you. start singing the chorus. if you’re the
only one singing, it stays.
